Air China and Singapore Airlines have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a commercial joint venture, aiming to expand codeshare services, coordinate schedules and deepen ties between their frequent flyer programs.
The agreement covers potential expansion of the airlines’ existing codeshare partnership to additional destinations between Singapore and mainland China, within China, and beyond both countries. The carriers plan to coordinate flight schedules, explore joint fare products, and pursue joint marketing and revenue-sharing arrangements, subject to regulatory approval.
As fellow Star Alliance members, Air China and Singapore Airlines also intend to deepen cooperation between Air China’s PhoenixMiles and Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer loyalty programs, giving members improved opportunities to earn and redeem miles across both carriers.
The two airlines will additionally exchange best practices in ground handling, catering and in-flight service.
Air China president Qu Guangji said the partnership built on the carriers’ long-standing relationship within Star Alliance.
“We will further deepen our bilateral partnership, broaden the scope of codeshare arrangements, enhance frequent flyer programme synergies, and vigorously promote our joint venture initiatives,” Qu said.
Singapore Airlines chief executive officer Goh Choon Phong said the partnership would expand options for customers travelling between Singapore and China.
“Together, we will offer customers more travel options, seamless connections, and enhanced convenience on flights between Singapore and China, and across our combined networks,” Goh said.
The carriers said the deepened partnership was also intended to support tourism, business and cultural exchange between the two countries.
The MoU was signed in Beijing on 29 June 2026.
