Qantas launches ‘Points Plane’ for Frequent Flyer redemptions
Qantas has announced the first of a series of dedicated Frequent Flyer redemption flights across its network with seats only available to members redeeming Qantas Points.
The inaugural Points Plane will be an Airbus A380 operating from Melbourne to Tokyo (Narita) on 21 October 2019, with Qantas Frequent Flyers able to book seats from Thursday 16 May.
The concept is one of many Qantas Loyalty is exploring to reward Qantas Frequent Flyer members and provide even more redemption opportunities.
Members will be able to book any seat on board (14 First, 64 Business, 35 Premium Economy and 371 Economy seats) at the standard Qantas Points redemption rate for the route. Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum members will all have equal opportunity to secure a booking on dedicated Points Plane flights.

Emirates announces codeshare partnership with LATAM Airlines Brazil on 17 routes
Emirates has announced a new codeshare partnership agreement with LATAM Airlines Brazil covering domestic services in the South American country.
Emirates passengers travelling to and from Brazil will now be able to connect with 17 cities in LATAM’s domestic network covered by the codeshare agreement including Belo Horizonte, Brasília and Foz do Iguaçu.
Passengers travelling to/from these cities will now be able to connect seamlessly in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro with Emirates’ flights to its Dubai hub, which serves over 150 destinations worldwide, including Australia.
The agreement will offer Emirates passengers more choice to travel to/from Brazil, with minimum connection times to destinations in Emirates’ global network such as Australia, Japan, and India amongst others.
Star Alliance unveils refurbished lounge at Paris Charles de Gaulle
Star Alliance has officially completed the refurbishment of its lounge at Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) Airport. The 980 square metre facility offers seating for more than 220 guests and features stylish elements inspired by Parisian design and architecture.
The lounge is available to first and business class customers, as well as Star Alliance Gold members travelling from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport – Terminal 1 on the following Star Alliance member airlines: Aegean, Air China, ANA, Asiana, EGYPTAIR, Eva Air, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Turkish Airlines and United.
The lounge, which was first opened in 2008, is located behind passport control at the highest point of the terminal building – levels 10 and 11 – and provides a panoramic view of the airport from the upper floor.
Open daily from 5:30am to 10pm depending on the flight schedule, the refurbished lounge offers a range of facilities catering to the diverse needs of today’s frequent travellers.
A particularly striking feature is the landscaped garden, which gives guests the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful outdoor area reminiscent of the green spaces of Paris before their flight.
