Adelaide Airport (ADL) is located just 6km west of the city centre with a single terminal building serving 22 domestic gates and 10 international gates.
Getting to and from Adelaide Airport
- Bus. JetExpress routes run on weekdays every 30 minutes while JetBus runs from Glenelg, West Beach, and the City, servicing all stops along its route.
- Shuttle Bus. A door-to-door service from the airport to hotels runs every 30 minutes from 8am until 9pm on weekdays, 6pm on Saturday, and 5pm on Sunday.
- Taxi. There is a taxi drop off between the terminal and the Atura Hotel. Taxi ranks are also located outside of the terminal, located left of the pedestrian plaza.
- Private vehicles. Private vehicles can drop off passengers on the public road adjacent to the terminal. However, drivers may not leave their vehicle unattended as it will be towed.
- Hire cars. Travellers can book chauffeured vehicles at the airport with a designated pick-up area beside the taxi ranks.
Parking options
There are three car parks located at the airport with the general car park, long term car park, and valet service car park. Travellers can book their car park in advance to save on parking fees.
- Terminal car park. It is connected to the terminal via a covered bridge and provides secure and convenient parking closest to the terminal.
- Long-term car park. This car park is located just a short walk from the terminal and offers the most economical airport parking option.
- Valet car park. Travellers availing of valet services can leave their vehicles at the drop-of right outside the terminal and leave the attendants to take care of the rest.
Things to do at Adelaide Airport
- Meals. There are several cafes outside the arrival area with the majority of shops and food outlets located within the sterile area after the first level security checks.
- Airport lounges. International travellers can wait at the International Departure Lounge.
- Duty Free. The Duty Free outlet is located after passing through the international security checks and offers a reasonable range of products.
- Free Wi-Fi. Travellers can choose to use the free Wi-Fi throughout the terminal.
Arrival procedures
- Visa Information. Travellers looking to visit or pass through Australia need to secure a valid Australian visa.
- Customs. Upon arriving, international travellers need to clear the Department of Immigration and Border Protection checkpoints by submitting an incoming passenger card and presenting a passport and visa (if applicable).
- International baggage claim. After clearing security, passengers can proceed to the baggage claim on the first level.
- Domestic baggage claim. After disembarking from the airplane, passengers can proceed to the baggage claim area on the first level.
Departure procedures
- Check in. Counters are located on the upper level with easy access via the lifts.
- Security screening. Travellers or those coming to greet or bid farewell to family and friends must pass through a standard security screening to access the sterile area. Once inside, there is another level of screening for departing passengers.
Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS)
Visitors to the country can claim a refund on goods and services tax (GST) and wine equilisation tax (WET) that they have paid on certain good during their stay. It is open to all overseas travellers and Australian residents. There are certain conditions to claim the refund:
- Spend $300 or more (including GST).
- Goods must be purchased no more than 60 days before departing Australia.
- Goods must be paid by the traveller themself.
- They must have an original tax invoice for the goods.
- Wear or carry the goods on board as hand luggage (unless they are liquids, gels or aerosols or oversized or bulky goods which must be checked-in) and present them along with your tax invoice, passport and boarding pass to a Tourist Refund Scheme desk prior to departing.
