Travel Weekly Women in Travel Power Lister Anne Wild’s company Anne Wild & Associates (AWA) has secured the Japanese National Tourism Organization (JNTO) PR account to help capitalise on increasing demand from Australian travellers and encourage visitation into some of the country’s less discovered prefectures.
“Japan is a much-loved destination for Australian travellers, and a personal favourite for many of our team members, so communicating the country’s captivating culture, unique local traditions and growing sustainable tourism offering is a great honour and privilege,” AWA managing director Wild said.
“We cannot wait to share Japan’s many flavours, festivals and authentic experiences with both first-time and repeat travellers – from iconic cities and idyllic islands to rural villages, spectacular national parks and an eclectic calendar of events.”
The latest ATIA Travel Trends report revealed significant growth in outbound travel, particularly to Japan with Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and the Department of Infrastructure, recording an exceptional 56.9 per cent increase in trips to Japan, with 798,710 Australians travelling there over the past year.
“We look forward to working with AWA’s expert team to welcome Australian travellers to Japan, and to bring the wide range of Japanese travel experiences to life in fresh ways,” JNTO’s Media & Marketing senior assistant manager, Andrew Coombs, said. “AWA understands the imperative to encourage responsible and sustainable tourism and disperse visitors throughout Japan to share the economic benefits with diverse geographical regions, communities, and operators.”
Aussie travel boom continues with Japan recording exceptional rise
The appointment cements a strong first quarter for the travel and lifestyle PR specialist agency, which recently secured the Raffles Sentosa Singapore account to promote the legendary brand’s second Singapore property.
In addition, AWA was recently reappointed by Minor Hotels (representing Oaks Hotels, Resorts & Suites, Avani Hotels & Resorts and Elysia Wellness Retreat), Norwegian Cruise Line, and the Myconian Collection boutique hotel portfolio in Mykonos.
