The business events arm of Tourism Australia has opened applications for a revamped events support program.

Business Events Australia’s partnership marketing initiative, the ‘Advance Program’, will become more accessible to events professionals, thanks to a reduction in minimum matched funding to $10,000.

It’s a move that will enable smaller-scale projects to receive a much-needed leg-up going forward, and is set to be introduced for the next financial year, with two application intakes in June and December.

In a statement, Tourism Australia’s executive general manager of events, Penny Lion, said the organisation would look for every opportunity to support the industry’s re-emergence post-COVID-19.

“We’re hoping that alterations to the application process for the Advance Program will drive innovation in internationally focussed Australian business events marketing and distribution initiatives and, ultimately, drive demand culminating in more business for Australian industry,” she said.

“This is an opportunity for industry to turn ambitious and effective ideas from concept into reality through a partnership with Business Events Australia.

“We strongly encourage industry to put forward concepts to be considered for the Advance Program funding, especially during this time where working together to position Australia is so important.”

The Business Events Australia team will host a webinar to explain the program, the application process and answer any questions at 2pm (EST) on Thursday 30 April.

To register your interest in attending the webinar, click here. Or, if you’re already across what the program has to offer, you can register your application by visiting the Business Events Australia website here.
