The APT Travel Group has achieved B Corp certification, meeting B Lab’s standards for social, environmental and governance business practices.

The company is the only 100 per cent family-owned Australian travel business to achieve the status. The certification is awarded by global nonprofit B Lab and assesses performance across five areas: governance, workers, community, environment and customers. Certification is reassessed every three years.

The APT Travel Group is approaching its centenary in 2027.

“This isn’t something we pursued because it was on trend,” APT Travel Group chief executive officer David Cox said. “It’s a reflection of how we’ve always believed a business should be run, with genuine accountability to the people inside it, the communities around it, and the world it operates in.”

The assessment covered all five impact areas. The company offers staff flexible working arrangements, financial wellbeing support and structured professional development.

For customers, all products and services are backed by a formal guarantee, with satisfaction targets tracked over the past year. Suppliers are held to a formal Code of Conduct covering pay, safety and environmental standards, with all outsourced services required to meet the same requirements. Community contributions, including donations and charitable partnerships, are guided by formal policy.

“A lot of businesses talk about purpose,” Cox said. “B Corp certification means ours is verified, documented and legally binding. That’s the level of accountability we want to be held to.”

The APT Travel Group was founded in 1927 and has grown from a coach company into a travel group spanning APT, Travelmarvel, Botanica World Discoveries, Captain’s Choice and Antarctica Flights.
