Aqua Expeditions has announced a deeply immersive river expedition experience aboard Aqua Mekong, sailing though Cambodia and Vietnam.
Expert-led excursions include kayaking through floating villages, visiting ancient Buddhist temples, cycling along rice fields, and connecting with local artisans, all guided by highly experienced local naturalists. Year-round itineraries depart from Ho Chi Minh City, Phnom Penh, and Siem Reap, complemented by a 1:1 guest-to-crew ratio, personalized service, and world-class cuisine. During the low-water season, Aqua Mekong is the only luxury Mekong River cruise offering complimentary flight extensions to Siem Reap, providing seamless access to Angkor Wat and surrounding temple complexes.
New itineraries
Aqua Mekong introduces new low-water itineraries, traversing lesser-explored stretches of the river and offering deeper cultural and wildlife immersion across Cambodia.
Launching in 2026, Kratie itineraries (4- and 7-night sailings, July–August) explore the Upper Mekong region, including the Kampi River, home to the endangered Irrawaddy dolphin, and Koh Trong Island, where daily life unfolds among fruit orchards and traditional stilt houses. The journey continues to Kampong Cham, with visits to the 12th-century Angkorian temple Nokor Bachey, guided cycling and hikes, including ascents to Phnom Hanchey, a sacred hilltop with sweeping Mekong views.
Launching in 2027, Phat Sandai itineraries (3-, 4-, and 7-night sailings, December–February) focus on the Tonle Sap region, with immersive visits to the Phat Sandai floating village, where life exists entirely on water. Guests explore the waterways by kayak, visit a community-led fishery conservation initiative supported by FACT, hike Phnom Neang Kangrey (the “Sleeping Lady”) overlooking Tonle Sap Lake, and cycle through the biodiversity-rich Phnom Touk Meas area.
