ACCC stresses complexity of Virgin-Tiger deal

ACCC stresses complexity of Virgin-Tiger deal
By admin

The competition regulator has again stressed that it faces a "very complex question" over Virgin's proposal to buy 60% of Tiger Airways Australia.

Rod Sims, chairman of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), told ABC Radio that while the deal would put Virgin Australia in a better position to challenge Jetstar, it would take out a third player in the market.

"So there's a very complex equation there to weigh up," he said.

The ACCC is due to make a ruling at the end of January.
