CLIA announces new industry award categories

CLIA announces new industry award categories
By admin

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Australasia has announced two new categories for its 2014 Cruise Industry Awards, in order to highlight the changing cruise agent landscape across Australia and New Zealand.

CLIA Australasia general manager Brett Jardine said that while the popular Gold, Silver and Bronze Agency of the Year awards would be retained for shopfront agencies, the organisation recognised a need to acknowledge the growing number of online and home-based agencies.

Jardine also stated that the Online Agency of the Year award would be awarded to a CLIA member who demonstrated a dedication to the online space, with the majority of their business driven by a booking engine.

The new Home Based/Mobile Agency of the Year award is another title being introduced as a way of rewarding the rising number of individuals that contribute to CLIA’s membership base.

Both awards will be voted for by CLIA cruise line members, with separate awards for Australian and New Zealand agents.

Jardine said the organisation had also decided to reinstate its Media Award category, taking the total tally for the event to 19 awards.

The 14th Annual Cruise Industry Awards will be held at Star Event Centre on February 28, with tickets available online at the Australian and New Zealand sites for $220.
