Cathay increases Sydney capacity
By admin

Cathay Pacific will deploy a 777-300ER aircraft on Sydney flights CX138/139 from December 2014, increasing capacity by some 580 extra seats a week.

By February 2015, this will increase again for flights Sydney and Hong Kong, by around 1,370 seats a week.

The airline will replace one Airbus 330-300 with a Boeing 777-300ER on CX138/CX139 between Sydney and Hong Kong three times a week from December and daily from February 2015.

The 777-300ER will operate CX138/139 on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday with the A330 operating on the other days until the aircraft takes over daily service in February 2015.

Cathay Pacific South West Pacific regional general manager Nelson Chin said, “We’ve seen very high passenger numbers throughout Australia and on our Sydney flights in particular this year and are therefore responding to the very solid demand by increasing capacity on a key flight.”

The additional Sydney capacity adds to the increases in capacity in Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Cairns in March this year.
