Emirates goes daily to Adelaide
By admin

Emirates has reported "exceptional demand" for its fledgling Adelaide service as it upped its frequency from four times weekly to daily just three months after the route took off.

The increased Boeing 777-300ER service will see an additional 1,062 seats in and out of the South Australian capital each way per week, with 200,000 passengers expected to travel on the route each year.

Vice president Australia, Barry Brown, reported load factors averaging between 85% and 90% throughout December and January, with the economy cabin at full capacity on most inbound and outbound flights.

"The response since our inception into South Australia has been overwhelming," he said. "Interest is particularly high as we enter a new era for Emirates with the Qantas partnership proposal, pending government and regulatory approvals."

Meanwhile, South Australian Premier, Jay Weatherill, anticipated the new daily service would deliver a significant boost to state tourism.

"Adelaide is now a one-stop destination for business people and visitors from many more cities around the world," he said.
