Emirates keen to extend QF tie-up
By admin

Emirates is keen to extend its alliance with Qantas to include the Pacific, it has emerged.

The Dubai carrier's president, Tim Clark, told Bloomberg it would explore the option which would enable passengers "to go around the world with A380s".

Clark said linking Qantas A380 flights to Los Angeles with Emirates services were left our of the initial alliance discussions because "the trans-Pacific is Qantas territory".

But the regulator's draft approval for the deal, announced just before Christmas, does not prevent the carrier's from exploring the possibility, Clark said.

"If the timing is right and the two aircraft meet, with Qantas and Emirates you could go around the world with A380s, which is a cool proposition," he was reported as saying. "I'm sure we could do trans-Pacific business on Qantas metal as part of this overall deal."
