Garuda Indonesia has opened reservations for its new Brisbane service which will return to the skies from August 1 after a five-year hiatus.

The daily B737-800 service will fly from Brisbane to Jakarta via Denpasar with seating capacity for 162 passengers – 12 in executive class and 150 in economy.

Vice president Australia and south west Pacific Bagus Y Siregar said the new flight would cater to both the leisure and corporate markets, with onward connections to Jakarta available.

Meanwhile, Queensland's treasurer and minister for trade, Tim Nicholls, said the new service "cements Indonesia as a major economic partner for our state."

"I congratulate Garuda Indonesia on this decision, which will build on our vital trade, tourism and education connections," he said.

Return fares start from $801 including taxes.
