Guangzhou Airport is set to introduce a 72 hour visa-free transit for Australian travellers with China Southern Airlines welcoming the news.

Guangzhou is China Southern's largest airport hub and the visa-free stay follows Beijing and Shanghai's lead.

The transit policy is anticipated to start mid-year.
