Haymarket hotel takes on Novotel brand
By admin

The Citigate Central Sydney hotel has rebranded as Novotel Sydney Central with the property to undergo a $4 million refurbishment to coincide with the regeneration of Sydney's Haymarket area.

Between March and August, the 255-room property will undertake renovations of all guest bathrooms, upgrade room furnishings with the lobby and part of its historic Field House Restaurant to also receive a makeover. In addition, a children's play area and three Apple computer stations will also be added.

General manager Danesh Bamji said the rebrand comes at a "great time" with the regeneration of the surrounding area to grow opportunities for the four-star property.

"For a long time, Haymarket has been seen as a transient suburb and often overshadowed by Darling Harbour and Chinatown however with the public works that are currently underway, Haymarket is going to become on the city's most exciting precincts, surrounded by cutting edge architecture, exciting new restaurant and retail areas," he said.

The renewal plans for the area include a new public space known as the "Goods Line" featuring greenery, bicycle tracks and seating areas.
