Insight upgrades 150 hotels

Insight Vacations has upgraded almost 150 hotels in its newly-launched 2013 Europe program with the operator claiming 100% of its properties are now in central locations.

The upmarket operator has also added eight tours, three of them in its Gold category.

Global president and chief executive John Boulding said the improved hotel product is in line with customer expectations. Nearly 70% of its properties are now classed as deluxe or superior first, he said.

But rather than prices rising for 2013, Boulding said the strength of the Australian dollar has seen fares fall by an average 6%.

“That is the beauty of it,” Boulding said. “The product has improved but the prices have on average come down. There is a real opportunity for agents.”

Insight reported a flat European season this year – the London Olympics again to blame – but Boulding said he was expecting growth in 2013 although he declined to reveal targets.

He flagged a new early booking discount which offers a 10% discount for any departure on bookings paid in full by December 27.

New tours include the Gold nine-day Gaelic Treasures and premium 14-day Treasure of Greece and the Islands.
