International passenger numbers carried by Japan Airlines Group shot up by 132.5% in May, as Japanese tourism continues to recover over a year after the earthquake and tsunami.

The airline carried 605,323 international passengers for the month.

Passenger numbers from Oceania grew 136% for the month to 9,237.

Domestic traffic also shot up, climbing 114.3% to 2.5 million passengers for the month.
