Jordan reassures local market
By admin

Jordan will focus on convincing Australians that the country is safe and secure as it launches its first drive in the local market.

Dr Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat, managing director of Jordan Tourism Board, insisted the country’s political landscape was solid with any demonstrations that take place on a par with Australia and US.

But he admitted its proximity with Syria meant it was “suffering by implication”.

Arabiyat said it would initially run media, followed by trade famils, in order to alter misconceptions.

“We want people to see and observe that our country is safe,” he said.

A delegation from Jordan will stage its last Australian roadshow in Melbourne tonight after events in Brisbane and Sydney this week. Arabiyat said it will look to build itineraries in conjunction with the United Arab Emirates and Turkey to further the appeal of Jordan.

Around 24,000 Australians visit Jordan annually.

“Australia is booming, the economy is doing well and we see it as a market with potential,” he said.

While history and culture will continue to be its primary draw, Jordan will also promote wellness and medical tourism, eco-tourism, adventure and sports, religious and meetings and incentive market.
