NSW launches China taxi plan
By admin

Destination NSW has inked a deal with Cabcharge and National Australia Bank to enable visitors from China to make bank card payments in Sydney’s taxis.

The agreement will see Chinese visitors travelling in and around Sydney able to pay their fares with their existing China Union Pay bank cards rather than just cash.

“The number of Chinese visitors to NSW is increasing and we want to ensure that our State is a safe, attractive and appealing destination,” Destination NSW chief executive Sandra Chipchase said.

“This initiative will contribute to makign their stay easier and more enjoyable.”

A “Welcome to Sydney” sticker will be placed on taxis throughout the city to raise awareness of the new scheme.

It follows the recent launch of the tourism body’s “Welcome to Sydney” smartphone app which provides information about visiting the state in Mandarin.
