Youth operator Topdeck has promoted sales and marketing director Asia Pacific Ben Ittensohn to director of sales for the region and recruited marketeer Mike Doyle as Asia Pacific marketing manager.

Doyle's has previously worked for social media monitoring and analytics software, BuzzNumbers and redRoom DVD.

Topdeck general manager Asia Pacific Sarah Clark said Ittensohn's new role will give him more time to focus on sales and to work with its preferred retailers.

 

Singapore Airlines is tackling its surplus of pilots by making 76 who are on fixed term contracts redundant. The carrier said the surplus followed the global financial crisis in 2009/10, reduced capacity and slower than expected growth.

The pilots will leave the carrier on June 30. The move is a reversal of Singapore's previous policy of only releasing pilots when their contracts expired.

"The airline will assist them to pursue employment opportunities within the SIA Group and other airlines," it said in a statement.

 

Airline alliance SkyTeam has cut the price of its lowest round the world economy class fare by 10%. The offer is valid for tickets of up to 26,000 miles and must be booked between February 1 and March 31.

 

Silversea has released details of 10 ‘Grand Voyages' for 2013, ranging in duration of 34 to 54 days.
