Australian arrivals to Peru climbed 17% to almost 36,000 last year, figures from tourism agency PromPeru have shown.

Officials said they will continue to work closely with the Australian trade this year and aim to raise awareness of cities and regions beyond Machu Picchu.

The firm, represented in Australia by Cruise Abroad, said it will provide certainty and peace of mind for consumers and travel agents.

In a separate move, CroisiEurope will also introduce an all inclusive drinks policy at mealtimes from 2014.

 

Australia has been named as the most popular destination for Chinese travellers in a survey by Travelzoo.
