Qantas culls BA codeshare routes

Qantas culls BA codeshare routes
By admin

Qantas continues to wind down its joint services agreement with long time ally British Airways, with the Australian carrier to remove its code from a number of BA services to European destinations.

From March 31, the carriers will end codeshare arrangements on services to 25 destinations including Amsterdam, Paris, Madrid and Rome.

However, Qantas confirmed it would continue to codeshare operations with the British carrier from London to Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Berlin, Brussels, Toulouse and Stockholm. In addition, the airlines will commence codeshare operations to Leeds-Bradford and Zagreb.

All Qantas customers with existing bookings for travel on the discontinued codeshare services after March 31 will be rebooked onto the British Airways service with the same flight details.

The changes will appear in travel agents’ GDS systems immediately.

While the move is timed to coincide with the start of the Flying Kangaroo’s proposed tie-up with Emirates in April, Qantas this week stressed that JSA between the two former allies would be terminated “irrespective” of whether the Emirates tie-up proceeds.
