Qantas will deploy Airbus A330s on all weekday Perth services from both Sydney and Melbourne from May to “better service” the growing business market.

The carrier yesterday took delivery of a new wide-bodied aircraft, fresh from the Airbus factory in Toulouse, which will become its ninth A330 to fly on the Qantas domestic network.

It is set to take to the skies “within weeks”.

Qantas Domestic chief executive Lyell Strambi underlined the importance of A330 aircraft for the airline’s domestic strategy as he unveiled the newcomer at an event in Sydney over the weekend.

“Qantas’ A330 aircraft offer superior space and comfort and have individual in-flight entertainment for all of our passengers, making them ideal for longer flights,” he said.

“One of Qantas’ key strengths in the domestic market is our wide-body aircraft which are very popular with our customers.”

The airline has 30 wide-body aircraft currently operating on its domestic network.
