Rhapsody begins US$54m revamp

Royal Caribbean’s Rhapsody of the Seas has entered dry dock in Singapore as it begins a US$54 million revamp.

The 2,000 capacity, 78,000 tonne liner was initially due for a two-week makeover but will now undergo a month-long “revitalisation” with new restaurants and entertainment, improved technology and refurbished cabins.

Royal Caribbean Cruises Australia commercial manager Adam Armstrong: “[The work] is not just limited to upgrading furnishings and decor but extends to a host of brand new venues, amenities and technology. It’s an immense project, the largest of its kind to take place in Singapore and possibly the biggest ever makeover for an Australian ship.”
