Sigatoka River Safari celebrates 8th birthday

By admin

This April the Sigatoka River Safari, Fiji, is celebrating its 8th birthday. The safari is the first jet-boat safari tour of its kind and since its inception in 2006 it has become one of the most popular tours in Fiji.

The tour, which runs for half a day, transports travellers down the Sigatoka River on custom-built safari jet boats, and allows guests to visit authentic Fijian villages.

When first formed in 2006 the tour was run from a small home office with a total staff of four and operating one boat and two drivers. Today the tour owns two retail stores in Sigatoka Town, a staff of 40 and operates four boats with seven drivers.

Jay Whyte, founder of the tour, said the sustainable growth of the tour in recent years would continue, with new expansions to the tour planned.

“Over the next eight years, we just want to continue to add on exciting new elements for international and local visitors alike, giving all who are interested the chance to discover the 'Heart and Soul of Fiji" in a unique and exciting way,” Whyte said.
