South Australia unveils China plan
By admin

South Australia's accommodation industry has underlined its commitment to working with the state government on a new plan to tackle and cater for the Chinese market.

The Activating China 2020 strategy, launched at the weekend, aims to triple the number of Chinese visitors to the state by 2020.

Accommodation Association of Australia chief executive Richard Munro said the industry "shares the views" of the government that Chinese visitors will become increasingly important to the state's economy over the coming years.

"It's vital that tourism businesses, including accommodation operators, are well prepared to cater for the expected growth in the number of visitors from China," he said. "While many of our members have started the process of preparing, we are actively encouraging more of them to do so, both for the benefit of their individual businesses and the broader tourism industry."

Munro highlighted recent growth of international air access to Adelaide and infrastructure enhancements such as the extension of the city's convention centre as steps in the right direction to ensure the plan's success.
