Taiwan ups pace with new app
By admin

Taiwan Tourism Bureau has unveiled a new app for iOS and Android smartphones, as it makes a fresh play for the Australian market.

The six-module app, available for free download, will be followed by a dedicated Facebook page over the coming weeks.

Taiwan welcomed 4664 Australian visitors in June 2012, a 15% increase year on year.

"The increase was driven by an awareness of the destination's multi-faceted nature and ability to appeal to a wide cross-section of Australians," marketing executive Australia and New Zealand Pearl Lee said.

The tourism body is hopeful the eight weekly air services linking Taiwan to Sydney and Brisbane operated by EVA Airways and China Airlines will rise in the "near future".

It will stagger agent workshops in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne over the next 12 month with an agent famil program also underway.
