TravelManagers get in the community spirit

Approximately 120 agents banded together in Fiji at the weekend for the 2012 TravelManagers conference, with culture and community at the heart of this year’s event.

Driven by the theme ‘working together, making a difference’, attendees got their hands dirty at the Votualevu Primary School as they revamped the school grounds following the devastating floods earlier this year.

In just two hours, delegates painted buildings, built chairs and tables, and touched up classrooms which would have taken staff up to six years to do on their own.

Speaking with Travel Today after the event, Travel Managers chief executive Joe Araullo described the program as an “outstanding success”.

“Building a culture between our travel managers is really important to their success, and getting involved in a community project like this has really achieved that,” he said. “Contributing to such a great cause and touching the hearts of those young Fijian kids has brought everyone together more than we ever anticipated.”

The Travel Managers conference was held from November 9 to 11 at Sofitel Fiji.
