Upmarket US move for Insight

Upmarket US move for Insight

Insight Vacations has taken its US and Canada product more upmarket with 37 new and upgraded properties and the addition of seven new Gold tours.

The developments came as the coach operator reported a 60% rise in business on last year.

“We expect the upward trend to continue into 2013,” managing director Lorraine Sharp said last night at the launch of the 2013 program. “The increased interest has been driven largely by the strong Australian dollar, which has made what is already a good value destination, even better.”

The slip in the dollar in recent days in unlikely to temper that demand, she added.

Among the new upmarket hotels are the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas – the newest property on the strip – Fairmont Le Chateau in Old Quebec and the Waldorf Astoria in New York.

Sharp said the addition of more luxury hotels and new Gold itineraries, which take the number of 11, followed consumer demand.

New Gold itineraries include a 14-day Rhythms and Flavours tour from Chicago to New Orleans which can be extended by seven days with a Mississippi River Cruise. A nine day Boston, Cape Cod and The Islands tour is also new.

One premium itinerary has been added, the 10-day Classic Mid-Atlantic from Washington DC to New York.
