Virgin ramps up corporate battle
By admin

Virgin Australia has ramped up its bid for the corporate passenger by opening a new lounge at Canberra Airport and introducing business class seats on routes to and from the Australian capital.

Chief executive John Borghetti said it will provide the corporate market with a choice of business class product for the first time in 10 years.

All 18 Embraer aircraft in its fleet have been fitted with a business class cabin in a newly configured 2:1 layout with the product offered between Canberra and Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, Hobart, Melbourne and the Gold Coast.

"Canberra is an important hub for corporate, government and leisure travellers and we now offer a premium end-to-end travel experience that not only encapsulates Virgin Australia's distinct look and feel but also our high standard of service," Borghetti said.

"For the first time in over a decade Australians will have a choice when it comes to competition in business class travel in and out of the capital."

News of Virgin's developments came as a new domestic terminal opened at Canberra with more check-in counters, baggage carousels and screening areas.

The carrier's newly opened lounge has capacity for 300.
