WA launches snappy campaign
By admin

Western Australia is inviting both its residents and visitors to participate in a new photographic campaign to showcase the experiences to be had in the state.

The 1001 Extraordinary Experiences campaign calls for members of the public to submit their photos and a brief description of their "extraordinary experiences" in the state to a dedicated Facebook page. The best 1,001 entries will be featured on a new website, to help travellers research their travel plans.

Its aim is to boost tourism throughout the state, with the regions a particular focus, according to regional development minister Brendon Grylls.

"There are thousands of small tourism operators in regional WA and we are committed to helping them by funding campaigns like this that encourage higher visitor numbers, bolster local communities and make a valuable contribution towards building sustainable communities," he said.

The push, jointly funded by Tourism WA and Royalties for Regions, is being fronted by former cricketer Adam Gilchrist who also submitted the first photo.

There are also five $10,000 holidays in WA to be won as an added incentive for people to enter before the closing date of March 28.
