Mega famil on cards for SIA Holidays relaunch

Wendy Wu Tours, the operator charged with breathing new life into Singapore Airlines Holidays, has insisted the new program will better reflect the quality of the airline and offer a far broader choice of product.

Commercial manager James Hewlett described the 132-page Asia brochure as “massively different” to the previous program,

It will provide agents with a variety travel experiences and packages across a range of destinations including Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, China and India, he said.

“It has only been eight weeks and it's been a tremendous effort to get this off the ground so quickly. The product is massively different and we are beginning to get that message across to the trade,” Hewlett told Travel Today at the launch of the program in Sydney last night.

Wendy Wu was charged with operating the program on behalf of Singapore Airlines after the carrier put it out to tender. It has previously been operated by Pinpoint Holidays.

A website has been launched along with the brochure – www.siaholidays.com.au – with Wendy Wu looking to attract direct business in addition to driving sales through the trade.

A mega famil for 100 travel agents will be run in August to introduce consultants to the product.

Wendy Wu managing director Alan Alcock said: “Singapore Airlines has an envied status with Australians for its excellent standard of service and Wendy Wu Tours has built a reputation with consumers for the quality of our tours over the last 16 years.

“Creating a range of holidays to reflect these traits will bring customers and travel agents fresh concepts.”

Singapore Airlines senior manager marketing and alliances, Dale Woodhouse, said the packages reflect the extensive network of both Singapore Airlines and its Silk Air subsidiary.

“The program also makes the most of our Singapore hub, whether for customers in transit, stopping over or enjoying all that the city has to offer as a destination in its own right,” he said.
