Adelaide wins Dreamtime

Adelaide will host Dreamtime 2015, strengthening its place as a leading business events destination in Australia.

Tourism Australia’s managing director, John O’Sullivan made the announcement ahead of start of Business Events week in Melbourne, and alongside the AIME exhibition that starts today.

O’Sullivan said the TA trade-marketing event was integral to its broader industry targets to grow its events sector to become a $16 billion industry by 2020.

“Dreamtime is Australia’s largest business events showcase, which allows us to connect with qualified buyers from key markets. We believe Adelaide and South Australia provide the perfect gateway for our key international buyers to experience a fantastic array of experiences and destinations on offer in Australia – and it’s an ideal time for the city to showcase its new developments,” O’Sullivan said.

Dreamtime will be held between 6-12 December and will bring more than 100 of the world’s top level travel buyers including agents, incentives houses and companies that book incentive programs and events to Australia for a five day experience.

“We look forward to working in partnership with Adelaide Convention Bureau to highlight some of the excellent business event facilities and experiences on offer in Australia to our key markets around the world,” O’Sullivan said.

South Australia’s minister for tourism, Leon Bignell said winning the pitch capped off a positive year for South Australia, and in particular Adelaide’s investment into redevelopments of major landmarks including a two-stage $400 million Adelaide Convention Centre, its $535 million renovation of the Adelaide Oval and a $300 million overhaul of the city’s casino project which includes a new integrated hotel.
