Adopting Virtual Payment Solutions

Adopting Virtual Payment Solutions

Australian travel agents are catching up with their online counterparts in the adoption of virtual payment solutions, according to WEX Australia.

The company’s solutions have been used by a host of online travel companies since it was established in Australia in 2013, with Webjet its launch customer.

But now it also counts “some of Australia’s largest traditional travel agents” among its customers, head of business development virtual Daniel Vukovac told Travel Weekly.

“The benefits to these customers are exactly the same benefits that OTAs enjoy,” he said.

“The main reason OTAs have been early adopters is technology is a key enabler and OTAs are typically very attuned to leveraging their technology to drive operational efficiencies and scale.”

Although other companies such as eNett also offer virtual payments to agents, Vukovac explained the difference with WEX is its provision of a line of credit to customers with payment terms in arrears.

“The benefit is our customers don’t need to prepay to use our product,” he said.

“Due to our experience, scale & breadth of travel customers, our customers also benefit from best practice advisory to optimise the outcomes of their virtual payments program.”
