Explore Worldwide, an adventure travel expert, has unveiled its latest booking trends and emerging destinations that are shaping European travel for 2025.
With an impressive 59 per cent year-over-year (YoY) increase in overall passenger bookings, the company is experiencing a surge in demand for popular European destinations, as well as emerging hotspots poised to become the next big thing for Australian travellers seeking alternative holiday experiences.
Latest booking trends for Explore Worldwide:
Explore’s overall passenger bookings are up by 59 per cent YoY, reflecting a significant rise in demand for small-group adventure travel to both classic and emerging destinations.
Europe remains the most popular continent for travelling Australians, with passenger numbers up by 62 per cent YoY. European bookings now make up 66 per cent of Explore’s total bookings from this market.
Italy remains the top destination, with a 60 per cent YoY increase in passenger numbers. The Amalfi Coast Walking tour continues to be a best-seller, drawing visitors year after year to its iconic coastal landscapes.
While classic European favourites like Italy and Greece continue to draw Australian tourists, a new trend is emerging. Turkey and Albania are quickly rising as the standout destinations for late 2024 and 2025 bookings. These alternative ‘Euro summer’ destinations offer travellers an enticing blend of cultural richness, breathtaking landscapes, and off-the-beaten-path experiences.
Turkey has experienced an extraordinary 183 per cent YoY growth in bookings, making it one of the most sought-after destinations for 2025. This surge highlights Turkey’s diverse appeal, from the vibrant streets of Istanbul to the surreal landscapes of Cappadocia and the pristine beaches of the Turquoise Coast. This rising interest is further reflected in a 58 per cent increase in website views, showing that Albania is increasingly becoming a tempting holiday destination as travellers plan their 2025 adventures.

Sicily: Another standout destination, Sicily has experienced a 128 per cent YoY growth, with the Classic Sicily Tour being a top choice for travellers seeking an alternative Italian holiday.
