First two MTA Advisors achieve ‘MTA Professional Plus’ accreditation
The first two of the 125 MTA – Mobile Travel Agents Advisors currently participating in the ground breaking ‘MTA Professional Plus’ inhouse online accreditation scheme have now completed the self-paced program.
The two Advisors, Sarah Fenton (pictured with MTA CEO, Don Beattie) and Julia Campbell, took just five months to complete the program which, launched in late October, has been designed to help further educate and support MTA Advisors in their day to day business and, overall enhance their standing as travel industry professionals.
Developed by MTA in-house training manager, Kirsty Tate, ‘MTA Professional Plus’ comprises nine core pathways and two optional pathways.
These focus on social media, corporate, cruise, air, land product, luxury, marketing, business and professional development.
Agents get a handle on Bunnik Tours!
Lucky agents from the Flight Centre Adelaide City store in SA were treated to a two-hour HandleBar tour around Adelaide last week as winners of a statewide Bunnik Tours incentive. Bunnik Tours awarded the prize to the top-selling SA store for their outstanding results in the first six weeks of the year.
Unique to Adelaide, the HandleBar hosted the agents as they rode around town visiting two bars and stopping for photos at iconic locations such as Bunnik House and Victoria Square. Runner up stores in Barossa, Modbury and Burnside all received a ‘fill your fridge on Bunnik’ prize.
Outrigger Hospitality Group’s Global Showcase Entertains Across Australia
The Outrigger Hospitality Group global showcase event has wrapped up after a week-long series of events and appointments in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.
President and CEO Jeff Wagoner joined the team in Brisbane while Vice President Hotel Operations Hawaii/Guam Mike Shaff, VP Sales and Marketing Asia Pacific, Mr. Andrew Gee and VP Corporate Communications, Monica Salter travelled with the team to all three cities. Executive VP and Chief Marketing Officer, Sean Dee joined the showcase in Sydney and Melbourne.
Outrigger’s properties in Hawaii, Fiji, Thailand, Mauritius and The Maldives were all represented at the showcase.
Guests included key wholesalers and product managers, specialist travel agents, tourism industry partners, airlines and travel media. Outrigger Resorts communicated with more than 450 travel industry professionals during the week-long roadshow.
Magellan Travel kicks off their annual state dinners
Last week on Tuesday night, Magellan Travel kicked off their Annual State Dinners at Vue De Monde in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD. Later that week, the roadshow continued in Perth where local members attended Fraser’s restaurant in Perth’s iconic King’s Park. With over 70 people in attendance collectively, both evenings were filled with great company, delicious food and memorable conversations. The dinners will continue on the east coast this week in Sydney and Brisbane.
In his address to the members in Melbourne and Perth, General Manager, Andrew Macfarlane shared the 3 key focuses of business being; Commercial, Member Benefits and Marketing, whilst also reviewing current member tracking of utilised resources and head office movements. In Melbourne, Helloworld Travel Limited CEO and MD, Andrew Burnes and Executive Director, Cinzia Burnes also addressed the group.
Commenting on the State Dinners, Macfarlane said “the travel industry moves too fast for us to come together only once a year at our annual conference.” He went on to say that “in keeping with our model and our core values, we place considerable importance on facilitating events such as these.”
Travellers Choice members take part in mega-educational month
The Travellers Choice network is set for one of the busiest months in its 42-year history with one in five of its agency owners taking part in a series of exclusive educational journeys over the next few weeks.
A total of 30 member shareholders – all winners of Travellers Choice’s coveted Choice Awards, which reward agencies for delivering the highest levels of support for preferred suppliers – will take part in three separate journeys this month.
