Air Vanuatu to recommence international flights following ‘evil twin’ cyclones

After being struck by two tropical cyclones in one week, Vanuatu is under a state of emergency.

Cyclone Judy and Kevin have left widespread damage to the archipelago, with most of Port Vila still without power.

However, as of yesterday, Monday 6 March 2023, Air Vanuatu announced it would be commencing some international services.

According to Air Vanuatu, all other impacted international flights have been rescheduled.

Air Vanuatu has advised passengers returning to Sydney, Melbourne or Auckland not to go to the airport until instructed to do so by their team at such time that the flights are confirmed.

Domestic flights are still suspended as assessments on the airstrips take place, with flights to Santo and Tanna said to commence soon.
