Airnorth has announced the launch of a new non-stop route connecting Cairns and Alice Springs, with flights set to commence on April 14, 2025.

The service will operate three times a week – on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays – using the airline’s Embraer E190 jet fleet.

The route will introduce an additional 30,000 seats per year, enhancing connectivity for both the Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) workforce and travellers keen to explore Australia’s diverse landscapes. The direct flights will provide a faster, more convenient link between northern Queensland’s tropical gateway and the Red Centre, catering to the rising demand for leisure and business travel.

Airnorth CEO Daniel Bowden emphasised the significance of the new service for both tourism and industry.

“We are thrilled to expand our network with the addition of the Cairns to Alice Springs service,” he said.

“This route connects key regions of Australia, facilitating economic growth and creating opportunities for travellers to explore the diverse landscapes of the Great Barrier Reef and the Red Centre. Airnorth is committed to serving regional communities and meeting the evolving needs of our customers.”

The Cairns–Alice Springs service has been strategically designed to support Northern Queensland’s growing FIFO workforce in the oil, gas, and mining sectors, while also offering domestic and international tourists a seamless way to visit two of Australia’s most iconic destinations.
