![ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW: Brisbane Airport](https://travelweekly.com.au/wp-content/themes/bandtv1/img/default.png)
Here is everything you need to know about Brisbane Airport, one of the country’s busiest airports, serving millions of passengers yearly and is the primary hub for Virgin Australia.
Brisbane Airport (BNE) is in Queensland and is located 14km outside the city center with both an international and domestic terminal servicing over 30 airlines.
Brisbane Airport Corporation CEO Gert-Jan de Graaff announced in September a $5 billion International and Domestic Terminal rebuild as the Queensland capital prepares for the 2032 Olympics.
Getting to and from Brisbane Airport
- Train. The Airtrain offers a quick and easy option with travel time to and from the city takes only 20 minutes. Train service runs every 15 minutes during peak times and 30 minutes at off-peak periods.
- Bus. The Con-x-ion shuttle bus transfer service operates from both terminals with a pick-up and drop-off service that goes door-to-door to most locations around Brisbane.
- Taxi. There is a 24/7 sheltered taxi rank outside both the domestic and international terminals.
- Private vehicles. There are designated drop-off areas at both terminals, allowing travellers two minutes to drop off family or friends. There is also a short-term car park should they need lengthier farewells.
- Hire cars. There are several affordable rental car options at the Brisbane Airport.

Parking options
- Skyclean airport parking. They offer convenient and affordable on-demand transfers to Brisbane Airport. Travellers can also choose their own parking space and keep their keys with them for extra peace of mind.
- Andrews airport parking. The largest offsite parking option at Brisbane Airport. It is located just five minutes away with 24-hour service and an on-demand free shuttle.
- Long-stay parking. Open 24/7, this facility also offers valet and car wash services and is just a few minutes’ walk away from both terminals.
- ParkValet. The easiest way to get your car parked at the Brisbane airport. They offer 24-hour surveillance and car wash facilities for added convenience.
Departure procedures
- Check in. It is recommended for travellers to arrive one hour prior a domestic flight and three hours for international flights.
- Security clearance. The airport follows security clearance procedures so passengers must ensure they comply with all requirements. This includes screening belongings and what passengers have on their person.

Arrival procedures
- Passport control. Passengers should proceed to immigration and passport control for manual processing. Those with qualified passports can proceed to the SmartGate.
- Luggage collection. Passengers must check the arrival screens for their flight number and allocated baggage carousel. There are complimentary luggage trolleys available for use at the international terminal.
- Transferring flights. Passengers can transfer between the domestic and international terminals via the bust stop outside each terminal. Airport staff are also available to help passengers find their way.
Facilities at the Airport
- Baggage storage. The Airport offers self-service storage options for both short and long-term rental with sizes that can fit anything from small bag to large luggage and musical instruments.
- Lounges. There are multiple lounge facilities at both terminals. There are also pay-per-use lounges for travellers that are not lounge members.
- Showers. Travellers looking to freshen up between flights can make use of the free shower facilities at both terminals. However, they need to bring their own towel and shower products.
- Other facilities. There are also plenty of ATMs, vending machines, water stations, and some smoking areas to keep travellers occupied while they are waiting for their flights.
