Amora Hotels & Resorts on the property hunt, unveils new Brooksy Bar concept

Amora Hotels & Resorts unveiled its strategic vision at a media event in Sydney last night, highlighting plans for new hotels and unveiling its new bar concept, ‘Brooksy’.

Amora is in good shape, and with a new regional office opened in Sydney, the goal is clear… Expansion.

A new hotel will be announced in a matter of days and plans are underway for the brand’s return to NZ with a property in Auckland expected next year.

Currently Amora operates three hotels in Australia; Amora Hotel Jamison Sydney, Amora Hotel Riverwalk Melbourne and Amora Hotel Brisbane.

The Brisbane hotel debuted in March this year following an impressive $25 million rebranding and refurbishment and as with all in the Amora Australian family, holds a prominent CBD location.

Amora also has three hotels in Thailand; a flagship resort with a private beach club in Phuket and offerings in Chang Mai and Bangkok.

Speaking with a media group last night, Tamer Habib, Amora’s VP of operations discussed the plans for expansion which will focus on acquiring five-star hotels in CBD locations.

“We’re not going through any hotel management agreements,” he said.

“Crucially, every Amora property has to be in a prime location, and it has to be operated under our own brand.

Habib was part of a recent business development trip that visited Adelaide and Perth, two cities firmly in the sights of the Amora. He also commented that hotels in ‘satellite’ cities (like Parramatta) are not out of the question, but would be second priority to Australia’s capital CBD cities.

Brooksy Bar

Hemant Dadlani has been appointed as Amora’s group executive chef. With two decades of experience in luxury hotels and resorts across seven countries, he’s in charge of curating innovative and inspiring food and beverage concepts for Amora.

One of these concepts is Brooksy Bar, located on ground floor of the hotel with seating for around 50 guests, soon to be 70 when an outdoor lounge section opens.

Its a chic atmosphere with a theme akin to a 1920’s jazz bar and a seemingly endless bar menu with a range of sophisticated cocktails and mouth watering bite sized nibbles.

With direct street access and an intimate layout, it’s a great mix of personal and social and the layout (and cocktail list) could certainly encourage some inter-table mingling and new friendships.

We’re looking forward to our next visit!
