New outback resort poised to open in Broken Hill
Outback NSW tourism brand, Out of the Ordinary Outback will open its new $5 million Broken Hill Outback Resort on August 31, 2018.
The new resort will help meet rowing overseas demand for holidays in country NSW, with the latest figures from the International Visitor Survey for the year ending March, 2018, showing the growth in visitor numbers to country NSW is more than double that of regional Australia as a whole. Hugging a historic but abandoned desert pub brought back to life by Out of the Ordinary Outback, the new cabin, caravan and camping park will have a staged, soft opening. The bar and bistro in the refurbished outback hotel, along with 40 camping and caravan sites, will be open from August 31, serving cold beer and traditional, home-made pizza.
The Coach House fine dining restaurant will open in stage two of the resort this September followed by an additional 40 camping and caravanning sites. Stage three this November will see the opening of 24 king spa cabins, each featuring an open-air deck spa and king-size bed. Stage four – a swimming pool, playground and bush trails through the surrounding dunes – is scheduled for development in 2019.

Theatre in the clouds at Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard, London
Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London has partnered with new private theatre service ‘Revels in Hand’ to offer a number of intimate plays to resident and non-resident guests of the hotel from 9th October 2018 through to 31st January 2019. Set in London’s highest luxury hotel suites, the exciting ‘Theatre In The Clouds’ experience is the world’s most exclusive form of theatrical escapism.
Revels In Hand is the brainchild of Melanie Fullbrook, Freddie Hutchins and Lucy Eaton – three actors who met at Cambridge University and are passionate about reviving the lost leisure of theatre done intimately. Harking back to the aristocratic nature of the arts, their bespoke theatre company will be performing plays in a luxury signature suite at Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London that include a theatrical double bill by Noël Coward, to a loveable comedy by John Van Druten called Voice of the Turtle.
Seated less than a metre away from the stage, the audience is invited to enjoy each play from a rare personal distance, close enough to see the laughter lines on the cast’s faces. Such intimate gatherings were common in Shakespearean times when inviting actors to one’s home for a private performance was the thing to do; a pastime well-loved by the aristocracy and royalty. Revels in Hand updates the experience to create a brand-new luxury offering: theatre in its purest form.
