Flights are back to normal today after dozens were cancelled across Australia yesterday after dangerous winds forced runway closures in Sydney and Melbourne.

Over 70 flights across Sydney’s international and domestic flights were cancelled yesterday as the airport was forced to use one runway.

A Sydney Airport spokesperson confirmed to Travel Weekly that all three runways were back up and running today.

Twelve flights from Melbourne to Sydney were cancelled yesterday as Melbourne Airport also had to drop to one runway instead of its usual two.

In Canberra, one flight to Melbourne and one flight to Sydney were cancelled.

A spokesperson for Jetstar told Travel Weekly that thanks to improved weather, only one Jetstar flight has been cancelled today – from Adelaide due to crewing requirements.
