Business class passenger caught watching porn on flight, but didn’t break any rules

A man has been taken from an aircraft in the United States after reportedly watching pornography on his mobile phone during the flight.

A traveller going by the Twitter name of momxfourboys tweeted about the incident and tagged United Airlines to make them aware of what had reportedly taken place on one of their flights.

“Are there no consequences for watching porn on your planes? This man watched porn on and off for most of the flight. The flight attendant did tell him “you can’t watch that” after I complained & showed him these pics that I took from my seat,” the passenger said.

In her tweets she also shared photographs of what the man was watching.

“He did stop, but only temporarily. There were people up and about in the cabin including minors who could have seen what this man was doing. I’m happy to give you the flight # and his seat # if you’re willing to take further action. As a woman, this behaviour made me feel unsafe!” She continued.

Some social media users jumped to the defence of the male passenger and said ‘momxfourboys’ shouldn’t have been looking at what was on his phone.

“Yeah, cause when I stood to pee it’s my fault I saw his porn. & the flight attendant walking down the aisle, it’s his fault he could see it as well. & my boyfriend who is tall & could see over the seat, his fault too. Surely it’s not the man who’s watching porn on a ✈️ fault,” she responded.

United Airlines responded to the customer asking for them to get in touch.

“Hi there. We’re truly sorry that this has been your experience. This is very concerning to hear. When you have a moment, please DM your confirmation number and flight details so we can look into this and pass this along to the appropriate teams,” the airline said.

Perhaps surprisingly, there aren’t any laws prohibiting viewing pornography while on an aircraft in the United States.

According to Airsafe.com, it is legal for passengers to take pornography when travelling, however, airlines can prohibit it through their terms and conditions due to the content being potentially offensive to other passengers.

“The First Amendment of the US Constitution prohibits the federal government, including the TSA, from restricting many forms of free speech, including most pornography, so passengers are free to travel with pornography on domestic flights,” the website says.
