Edited by Travel Weekly

Celestyal has released details of its Arabian Gulf shore excursion program, with Celestyal Journey homeporting in Doha from November this year, and Celestyal Discovery joining her fleet mate in the region in 2025 and homeporting from Abu Dhabi.

There are a total of 80 tours available across the Gulf, including a range of half-day, full-day, and two-day options, including small group ‘Authentic Encounters’ (limited to 12 guests or fewer), which provide hands-on ‘insider’ experiences with local people and attractions.

In her maiden Arabian Gulf season, 1260-passenger Celestyal Journey will offer a seven-night Desert Days itinerary between November 2024 and March 2025, departing from Doha, Qatar, and visiting Bahrain, Dubai, Khasab (Oman), Sir Bani Yas Island and Abu Dhabi, and priced from A$859* per person twin share.

Shore excursions include:

‘Mix it up in Doha’ – an ‘Authentic Encounter’ that explores the diverse history and culture of the region from modern architecture at Pearl-Qatar Island to the artistic hub of Katara Cultural Village, concluding with a guided tour of Souq Wakra to witness the Gulf’s spice trade.

‘Dare to ride the Flying Fox zipline’– an ‘Authentic Encounter’ tour in Khasab. Take flight on the Flying Fox, the world’s longest zipline over water, experiencing a thrilling 1800-metre journey from Jebel Fitt to the Musandam coastline at speeds up to 80kph.

‘Mosques, museums and mezze in Manama’– embark on a tour of Bahrain’s culture and cuisine including the Al Fateh Grand Mosque, the Bahrain National Museum and Manama’s bustling bazaar, before visiting the historic Bahrain Fort and relaxing at the Novotel Al Dana boutique hotel.

Starting in December 2025, Celestyal Discovery will offer three- and four-night Iconic Arabia roundtrip cruises from Mina Zayed, Abu Dhabi, and calling at Doha, Sir Bani Yas Island, Fujairah as well as Muscat and Khasab in Oman, from $539* per person twin share.
