Christine Anu ready to headline QLD Music Trails’ ‘Between The Tides’

QLD Music Trails has announced the 2024 Reef Trail with news that its highly anticipated coastal concert experience ‘Between The Tides’ will return this year.

Between The Tides, will this year be headlined by Rockhampton local, Christine Anu on Saturday, 6 July, and Josh Pyke on Sunday 7 July. Tia Gostelow will feature as support each night.

The only event to ever be held on the stunning Cape Hillsborough coastline in Yuwibara Country, Between The Tides blends musical performances, landscape, First Nations culture, and community hospitality to make truly unforgettable memories.

The 2024 event will be the key feature of The Reef Trail, explained Daryl Raven, CEO of Queensland Music Festival (QMF)

“Between The Tides 2023 was an event unlike anything seen in the region before it. An event which offered audiences a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity combining music, destination, and cultural immersion, against the magical backdrop of the Coral Sea and the rainforest-covered headland,” he said.

“We are incredibly privileged to be in a position to bring this trailblazing event back for a second time in 2024, to experience the likes of Christine Anu, Josh Pyke and Mackay local, Tia Gostelow against the backdrop of the world-famous Cape Hillsborough beach, Yuwibara Country.”

After a sell-out inaugural event in 2023 headlined by Busby Marou, 2024’s The Reef Trail is projected to attract over 4000 people to the Mackay & Whitsunday regions, attract greater overnight visitor numbers, and inject over $300,000 into the regions.

“What an extraordinary experience, to see two artists of this calibre perform some iconic Australian songs on the beach next to the Great Barrier Reef,” Healy continued.

“This Between The Tides concert double-header is a highlight of The Reef Trail series which provides an unforgettable musical experience while encouraging more people to stay and play longer on their Queensland holiday.”

“Our $20 million, three-year investment into the Queensland Music Trails is bringing some fantastic musical acts to places they may have never performed before, while giving a boost to hotels, restaurants and tourism operators across the state.”

Between The Tides forms the signature event along The Reef Trail, with a range of other events taking place across the region from 5 to 13 July 2024.

Trail-goers will then be able to follow the coastline North over the following week, with a range of community and music-based events planned along the way, concluding at the iconic Northerlies in Airlie Beach.

Arts Minister Leeanne Enoch said Queensland Music Trials are an important contributor to Queensland’s Creative Together roadmap.

“Creative Together is about maximising our once-in-a-generation opportunity to put Queensland’s unique places, arts, culture and stories on the global stage through inspiring events like this ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games,” Minister Enoch said.

“The Reef Trail series brings together world-class concert experiences in spectacular Queensland locations to grow cultural tourism and more good Queensland jobs for artists and art workers.”

Between The Tides, The Push Mackay, Swell Day, and The Reef Trail are presented by QLD Music Trails, with support from Mackay Regional Council. QLD Music Trails are proudly supported by the Queensland Government.

Tickets go on pre-sale exclusively for QLD Music Trails subscribers on Monday, 8 April (subscribe HERE), with tickets for general public on sale Wednesday, 10 April.
