Sydney Place, Circular Quay’s newest dining precinct, has welcomed Sil Bi Jip, a Korean restaurant and pocha that offers street food-style menus plus affordable classics.

The restaurant brings authentic Korean soul food at an affordable price point, with a dine-in and takeaway model to cater to the CBD’s bustling lunch crowd.

During the day, Sil Bi Jip serves a menu of Korean lunch favourites such as dosirak (lunch boxes), deop bap (rice bowls), gimbap (rice roll), and K-dogs (Korean hot dogs) alongside seasonal soup dishes.

“At Sil Bi Jip, our goal is to feed people nourishing, high-quality dishes at an affordable price point, offering everything we love about Korean street food,” Sil Bi Jip owner, Dennis Oh, said.

“Whether you’re looking for a warming and filling rice bowl by day or some snacks and specialty drinks by night, we can’t wait to welcome the community in to experience our ‘small Korea’ right in the heart of Sydney.”

Head of asset management at Lendlease, Scott Meehan, said Sil Bi Jip is a welcome addition to the vibrant Sydney Place precinct.

“Not only does it offer delicious and accessible meals by day, but it’s also set to become an evening hotspot – we look forward to seeing it become a dining and cultural mainstay for our Sydney Place community and visitors alike,” Meehan said.

Sil Bi Jip joins more than 20 retailers already open in the precinct, including Bar Besuto, Jacksons on George, Malay Chinese Noodles, Lode Pies and Kosta’s Takeaway.

Menu highlights include:

  • Dubu jorim (Korean style spicy tofu)
  • Dak gang jeong (spicy deep-fried chicken)
  • Jeyuk bokkeum (spicy marinade pork)
  • Bibimbap (classic Korean rice bowl)

When night falls, the restaurant transforms into a vibrant pocha (Korean bar serving street food style snacks and beverages). The dinner menu includes an array of specialty dishes and 21 types of Korean liquor.

Dinner menu highlights:

  • Makhoe (fisherman-style sashimi)
  • Tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes)
  • Gyeran mari (Korean-style rolled omelette)
  • Mok sal gui (char-grilled pork neck)
