Delta Air Lines has strengthened its footprint in Australia and the South Pacific with the introduction of a new nonstop service between Los Angeles (LAX) and Melbourne (MEL).

The seasonal service will operate three times weekly, launching on December 3, 2025, from LAX, with the first departure from Melbourne scheduled for December 5

The route will provide seamless connectivity between the U.S. West Coast and one of Australia’s most dynamic cities, offering passengers access to Delta’s award-winning service and state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

Flights will depart Los Angeles at 9:25 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, arriving in Melbourne at 8:15 am two days later. The return service will depart Melbourne at 10:25 am on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, touching down in Los Angeles at 6:10 am on the same day.

Discover one of Australia’s greatest cultural hubs

As Australia’s cultural capital, Melbourne offers an enticing mix of arts, cuisine, and world-class sporting events. Travellers can immerse themselves in the city’s vibrant music and arts scene, from renowned galleries to colourful street murals, or explore its thriving café and dining culture. The city is also home to major sporting events, including the Australian Open.

Beyond the city, Melbourne serves as a gateway to breathtaking natural attractions such as the Great Ocean Road, the Yarra Valley wine region, and Phillip Island’s famous penguin parade.

Strengthening Delta’s South Pacific network

This new service makes Melbourne the third Australian city in Delta’s network, joining Sydney and Brisbane, and expands its South Pacific reach to five cities, including Auckland and Papeete. The airline’s presence at Los Angeles International Airport continues to grow, offering travelers from Melbourne seamless connections to over 40 U.S. cities, including New York, Boston, Seattle, and Atlanta.

Premium travel experience at LAX

Delta’s investment in its LAX hub enhances the customer journey with cutting-edge facilities. Delta One customers will have access to the exclusive Delta One Lounge, featuring premium dining, a wellness area, and personalized service. The airline’s $2.3 billion terminal transformation at LAX includes the Sky Way at LAX and a modernized Terminal 3, complete with an expanded security checkpoint and a Delta Sky Club.
