DILKARA Hotel Essentials celebrates Indigenous Australian beauty and heritage
Edited by Travel Weekly

Australian-born international hotel toiletries brand Vanity Group has launched DILKARA, an Indigenous label whose name means rainbow, that merges cultural heritage with modern beauty.

Founded by Julie Okely, a proud Kamilaroi woman from Coonabarabran, NSW, DILKARA aims to educate the global community about Indigenous Australians and foster reconciliation between cultures.

“Our mission is to bridge the gap by sharing our heritage and knowledge with the world,” Okely said.

The name DILKARA is taken from the language of Eastern regions of Indigenous communities. Okely uses the First Nations language to embody the reflection of the vibrant colours found in hair, and the diverse skin tones of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This launch signifies a meaningful step in celebrating and sharing the values of First Nations people, traditions, and storytelling through the hotel collection.

The ingredients, sourced from Indigenous communities and renowned for their healing qualities, are blends infused with traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander native bush essences.

The Bamal Collection will serve as the signature hotel collection. Bamal means Earth in the Dharawal language and is inspired by Dreamtime stories. It is infused with traditional native aromas drawn from the expansive Australian bush, with key extracts including Kakadu plum, lemon myrtle and sandalwood.

As part of the collection’s commitment to giving back, the DILKARA Hotel Collection donates 5 per cent of profits to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. This initiative helps bridge the gap in literacy, empowering Indigenous children and communities through the gift of reading and education, while ensuring the preservation of language and culture for future generations.

Paul Tsalikis, Chairman and Founder of VANITY GROUP expressed his enthusiasm for the range.

“We are thrilled to welcome DILKARA to our family. This brand represents a unique blend of cultural appreciation and environmental sustainability,” he said.

“With DILKARA, we are committed to providing guests with an experience that respects and celebrates Indigenous heritage.”

The exclusive DILKARA hotel collection offers a luxury shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and body lotion in 30ml tubes and 500ml refillable bottles. In line with DILKARA’s commitment to sustainability, the hotel collection is certified to the Global Recycled Standard, ensuring that at least 50 per cent of the materials used are sourced from recycled content that meets strict environmental and ethical standards. The DILKARA hotel collection is a Supply Nation Certified product, that has multiple International and National awards to its name.

The DILKARA hotel collection will be distributed exclusively through VANITY GROUP.
