Rail Europe has appointed Robert From as chief growth officer to oversee the B2C business including customer acquisition, growth, retention, ancillaries, and monetisation.

His arrival comes at a pivotal time as Rail Europe is set to launch a new booking experience for its B2C customers on both the website and app by the beginning of 2025.

From brings more than 15 years of experience in scaling technology and media businesses internationally.

Previously at MaaS Global, he was responsible for managing WHIM (dubbed the “Netflix of mobility”). In this position, he led the company to significant revenue, customer and usage growth – bringing the total number of customers served to 650k and facilitating 25M trips.

He has also served in multiple leadership roles at Google in Northern Europe and Southeast Asia. In his last position, he played a key role in expanding YouTube monetisation in Finland and the Nordics.

During his time at Google, he also successfully helped companies in technology, e-commerce, FMCG and consumer services to grow sales, build their brands and serve their customers better.

“We are thrilled to welcome Robert to our team in his newly created executive position,” Rail Europe CEO Björn Bender said.

“Robert’s strategic vision and proven track record in customer acquisition and retention will be instrumental in advancing our position as a leading B2C train booking platform.

“As we prepare to unveil our entirely new booking experience, Robert and his team will play a crucial role in driving our B2C growth, ensuring a data-centric approach and delivering superior customer experiences.”

“I am very excited to join Rail Europe at a key moment for both the company and the rail industry overall,” From said, “The increase in consumer demand, the developing rail markets across Europe as well as the need to increase the share of more sustainable means of transportation, present a massive opportunity.”

“I am looking forward to working with the talented teams across the company to serve our customers on their journeys.”
