Fiordland Discovery has launched a new high-end lunch cruise on New Zealand’s fiord Piopiotahi Milford Sound featuring the very best of local and seasonal cuisine this summer.

Hosted on the boutique 24 metre catamaran Fiordland Jewel, it will be the only truly small group luxury lunch and cruise offering in Piopiotahi Milford Sound, when it launches on 9 November 2024.

Each cruise can accommodate up to 22 guests and takes them to the famous UNESCO World Heritage area. The cruise is complemented by rich commentary from the captain, who is at the helm within the main saloon with guests. A further 12 guests can dine on the outside picnic tables on the aft deck.

The delicious two-course lunch is carefully crafted by the onboard chef, featuring seasonal and locally sourced produce such as Fiordland Blue Cod, Wapiti Venison or Southland Lamb, and desserts made with seasonal Central Otago fruits.

CEO and owner of Fiordland Jewel, Rob Swale, said: “Piopiotahi Milford Sound is such a breathtaking fiord, rich in wildlife and iconic scenery. By creating this new lunch cruise our aim is to provide guests with a relaxing, luxurious way to enjoy Milford Sound while also enjoying the best cuisine associated with the area.”

The Fiordland Jewel is a New Zealand custom-built catamaran designed to provide guests with 360 degree viewing opportunities of both the wildlife and landscapes in Piopiotahi Milford Sound and the equally breathtaking southern fiords of Fiordland National Park.

Rob Swale concludes: “We are passionate about showcasing the beauty of Piopiotahi Milford Sound. To enable access for our guests we collaborate with trusted luxury transport providers to transfer guests from Queenstown and Te Anau by road, helicopter or fixed wing aircraft, creating a seamless experience for our guests.”
